About Hadlow Down

Hadlow Down, found between Heathfield and Buxted on the A272 road, is a village in Wealden District, East Sussex. With a distinctly self-sufficient background, Hadlow Down was known for rural farming from the 16th century, when the Wealden iron industry took off. Villagers in the present day tend to commute to work but the village itself is a busy community with a church, school and pub; as well as leisure groups including the cricket club, horticultural society, ‘Variety Club’ and popular events such as a steam rally, Winterfest and a village fayre.
